Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee issued a stern warning to the public Wednesday as Tennessee registered its highest daily increase in positive COVID-19 tests for the third time in a week and a half. While encouraging social distancing and wearing masks in public, the Governor said he’s not pursuing a statewide requirement to wear masks. Instead, he is looking into whether more cities and counties have authority to mandate them.
The total COVID-19 case count for Tennessee is now 45,315 as of Wednesday, July 1, 2020 (up 1,806 from Tuesday) including 609 deaths (up 5 from Tuesday); 2,715 hospitalizations (up 50) and 28,283 recovered (up 684).

Putnam County reports a total case count of 805 (up 22), with 592 (up 5) and 7 deaths (no change).
Rhea County, which has no deaths, is at 272 (up 3) and 238 recovered (down 1).
White County has 64 cases (up 1); 49 recovered (up 1) and 3 deaths (no change).
