During a special call of the Cumberland County Board of Education, board members unanimously approved a motion to start school on August 5th, but that vote was later declared invalid because the matter was not on the published agenda. The board will hold a special session to again vote on a plan from Director of Schools, Dr. Ina Maxwell, which includes temperature checks each morning and optional face coverings. Wednesday, August 5th is scheduled to be the first day of school with dismissal at 10 a.m. The first full school day is scheduled for August 7th.
