A local man was busted for DUI after he allegedly ran into a building on the 4th of July. Shortly before 11 p.m. Crossville Police were dispatched to the area of West Avenue and Miller Avenue where they discovered a black Ford Explorer Sport Trac had crashed into a building and was located inside, halfway between LA Nails and Premier Loans. Witnesses at the shopping center said that the driver of the crashed vehicle, 58-year-old Michael Allen Richards, had traveled from the Sparta Drive area, across Miller Avenue and into the grassy perimeter of the shopping center before crossing the parking lot and crashing into the two businesses. Police entered through a hole in the wall of Premier Loans and made contact with Mr. Richards who was escorted out of the back door of the building. Mr. Richards was checked out by EMS and refused treatment. Mr. Richards reportedly had a strong odor of alcohol and failed a Field Sobriety Test. He was placed into custody for DUI and transported to the Cumberland County Justice Center.
