The TBI is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Tuesday night in McMinn County. Initial reports indicate that when Drug Task Force Agents arrived at a residence in Etowah, 62-year-old Paul Eugene Armstrong came out of the home and pointed a gun at the officers. The two Task Force Agents, one from the Athens Police Department and one from the McMinn County Sheriff’s Office, fired their weapons, striking Armstrong, who was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were injured during this incident.
