COVID-19 has been detected in Chattanooga’s wastewater, indicating the virus may be far more prevalent than first thought. WRCB reports that Chattanooga’s Wastewater Treatment Facility was one of 350 in 40 states that entered into a sewage testing campaign for the month of May. The wastewater test is not able to determine if the virus is dead or alive in the samples but the data does mirror trends in clinical testing.
