The California Kid Steals Kentucky Win in NASCAR Cup Series

Sunday afternoon the NASCAR Cup Series held there race at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta Kentucky for the Quaker State 400. Ford Mustang driver Brad Keselowski was the Winner of Stage 1 and Aric Almirola would win Stage 2 in his Ford Mustang. The Ford Mustangs proved strong throughout the race having their Mustangs positioned 1-4 at the end of Stage 1 and at the end of Stage 2 5 of the top 6 cars Fords. On the final restart of the race action picked up as Kevin Harvick, Martin Truex Jr., Ryan Blaney, and Rookie Cole Custer were all side by side coming to the white flag signaling the last lap of the race. Blaney at the bottom of the 4 Wide group hit a drain at the bottom of the track making him loose control of his car and slamming into Harvick virtually taking them out of contention. Custer used a run on the high side to get by Truex Jr. and to earn his first ever NASCAR Cup Series Win. Cole Custer is the first Rookie to Win since 2016 when Chris Buescher won at Pocono. Custer also locked himself in the All-Star Race that will be held in Bristol Tennessee on Wednesday July 15th. Those festivities begin at 6:30 PM on Fox Sports 1
