Rockwood Man Seriously Injured At Ozone Falls

A Roane County man had to be flown to U.T. Medical Center last Thursday after he apparently fell at Ozone Falls. According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department, officers responded to a call of a man standing at the edge of Ozone Falls yelling obscene language, and he appeared to be intoxicated. Police arrived on scene and found 40-year-old Stephen R. Stage, of Rockwood, lying on his back near the bottom of the trail. Mr. Stage’s legs were folded under his upper body, he was unconscious, and bleeding out of his left ear. It appeared he had fallen from a ledge approximately 20 to 30 ft above. First responders and medics carried Stage out of the Falls to an ambulance, which took him to a landing zone in Westel where he was flown to the trauma center in Knoxville.
