A young woman was lucky to escape injury Friday when she wrecked her car on I-40 in Cumberland County. Shortly before 1 p.m., 19-year-old Katie Davis was driving west when she lost control of her 2017 Chevy Cruz due to heavy rain. Her vehicle struck the cable barrier at the 329 westbound mile marker just before Crab Orchard. Some local good Samaritans stopped to render assistance and help direct other motorists away from the crash until police and emergency crews arrived on the scene. They also called Peg Broadcasting to issue a traffic alert. Ms. Davis was wearing a seatbelt and the THP reports she was not injured.
