Elderly Crossville Man Scammed Out of Almost $10,000

An elderly Crossville man told the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office that he had been scammed out of almost $10,000 after someone going by the name of Arthur Rose called him and told him he had won a car and $25,000. As is usual with such scams, the victim was told to purchase gift cards and also to send a check to a man named Dennis Sams in Kingsport, Tennessee for taxes. This happened several times with the victim being told his cash prize had gone up to $18.5 million. Before the man realized he was being scammed he had already been cheated out of $9,700.
