New quarantine guidelines from the Tennessee Department of Health could require some households to isolate for 24 days or more. Under guidelines posted August 14, 2020, people who test positive for COVID-19 must quarantine for 10 days. However, household members who have come in contact with the infected person are required to isolate for an additional 14 days AFTER the coronavirus patient has completed their 10-day isolation. That adds up to 24 days of isolation for household members who have come into contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19, even if that person does not have symptoms.
