Almost 14,000 School-Age Children Positive For COVID-19 In TN

Four more Cumberland County school-age children have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total to 56 as of Wednesday, August 19, 2020. Of that number, 17 cases were reported in the last 14 days. Fentress County reports 4 more children between the ages of 5 and 18 have tested positive, bringing the total to 27. Morgan reports 2 more school kids are infected for a total of 20. Eight more children in Putnam County have been added to the positive count for a total of 299 kids. Roane County added 5 more children to the positive count on Wednesday for a total of 69. White County also went up by 5 for a total of 44 school age children infected with COVID-19. The Tennessee Department of Health reported on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 that 13,798 children ages 5 to 18 have tested positive for coronavirus statewide. Over 2,000 children have tested positive in the past 14 days. The 14 to 18 age group has the most cases at 55.7%, 11-13 year-olds account for 18.1% of the cases and 5 to 10-year-olds make up 26.2% of COVID-19 infections among school age children.
