Director of Schools, Dr. Ina Maxwell, says the school attorney is still investigating the legality of releasing the COVID-19 numbers in the Cumberland County School District. Cumberland County’s current enrollment is 6,564 students which includes 685 elementary and 341 high school students enrolled in virtual learning.
The Tennessee Department Of Health is releasing the number of school age children infected with coronavirus in each county, but the Department does not specify whether the students are in public, private or home school.
As of Thursday, August 21, 2020 Cumberland County recorded a total of 58 children between the ages of 5-18 who have tested positive for COVID-19. Of that number, 16 were reported in the last 14 days.
