The Stone Memorial High School Panthers and the Cumberland County High School Jets opened the 2020 football season Friday night and both games featured lengthy weather delays.
SMHS traveled to Knoxville to take on the Rams at Grace Christian Academy. The Rams recorded a 34-14 home win. Next up for the Panthers Friday, August 28, they will host the Clay County High School Bulldogs. The kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 and live coverage will air on Mix 99.3 beginning at 6:45.
The Cumberland County High School Jets played host to the Highlanders from Scott High. The Jets enjoyed a 6-0 halftime advantage and led 12-8 midway through the final quarter, but the Highlanders rallied and posted a 20-12 road win. CCHS will play game two of the season Saturday, August 29, as they travel to Sparta to take on the White County High School Warriors. 102.5 WOW COUNTRY will have live coverage beginning at 6:45; the kickoff is set for 7:00.
