The THP has released more details about Friday’s early morning crash on I-40 that snarled traffic for several hours near the eastbound 334 mile marker. Thirty-three-year-old Lorenzo Graham Jr., a truck driver from Jacksonville, North Carolina was injured. It happened around 3:15 a.m. Mr. Graham’s tractor trailer was crossways, across both lanes, when two more tractor trailers also traveling east, swerved to avoid contact. The second tractor trailer hit Graham’s semi in the left rear, then struck the cable barrier and overturned in the median. The driver, 44-year-old Jeffrey Lynn Story, of Monroe, Tennessee was lucky to escape the crash without injuries. The third truck driver, 61-year-old Dennis Earl Felker, of Knoxville, Tennessee managed to avoid hitting the other trucks, but as he skidded off the roadway, the trailer shifted on the fifth wheel and disabled his rig. He was also fortunate to escape without injuries. Sergeant Jeff Brown reports that Graham would not provide an explanation for the positioning of his vehicle and insisted he was parked on the shoulder at the time of the crash.
