TN COVID-19 Case Count For Tuesday, August 18, 2020

Hospitalizations went up by 100 people in Tennessee on Tuesday, August 18, 2020. The total COVID-19 case count for Tennessee is now 135,778 as of August 18, 2020 (up 1034) including 1,426 deaths (up 39), 5,981 hospitalizations (up 100) and 96,896 recovered (up 2,084).

Tennessee officials said Tuesday that school-aged children count for 10 percent of COVID-19 cases in Tennessee, WVLT reports. Health Commissioner Dr. Lisa Piercey told media that most of those cases are in high school-aged children.

Another person has died from COVID-19 in Cookeville, bringing Putnam County’s death toll from the virus to 21 people as of Tuesday, August 18, 2020. Active cases are 512; positive cases are 1,959 and recoveries are 1,426.

As of Tuesday, August 18, 2020, Putnam County Schools reported 437 people quarantined in the school system, an increase of 12 from Monday. The school district also had 29 confirmed positive cases.

Cumberland County’s Active Case Count is 248 as of Tuesday, August 18, 2020 (up 2 from Monday). Positive cases rose by 6 to 598. Recoveries are up 4 to 343. (7 deaths officially reported (+0)).
