Tennessee Representative Mike Carter has contracted COVID-19 and has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at Erlanger. The Ooltewah Republican is the second known state lawmaker to have tested positive for COVID-19 within the last week, WRCB reports. Republican House Speaker Glen Casada, of Franklin, was also in quarantine over the weekend after he was exposed to someone with the virus. Last month, Republican Representative Kent Calfee tested positive for COVID-19 along with about a dozen other lawmakers and staff in the Legislature.
