By Ciphertek Systems Aug 17, 2020 | 5:00 AM

NASCAR held it’s first ever Cup series race at the Daytona Road Course yesterday. The Road Course at Daytona was first race on in 1962 for the 3 hour event called the Daytona Continental. The event is now called the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona and raced by IMSA (International Motor Sports Association). However yesterday it was NASCAR’s turn on the historic venue. The race was halted halfway through due to a lightening delay other than that however weather did not play a factor. Stage 1 belonged to Chase Elliot and the Second Stage went to 6 time winner this season Denny Hamlin. The winner of the historic event would go on to Dawsonville Georgia native Chase Elliot as he brings home his 2nd win of this season and his 3rd road course win in a row. There is just 3 races left until the 2020 Playoffs begin. Next week will be another double header when the Cup series will race at Dover International Speedway Saturday and Sunday. Both races will be on NBCSN at 3:00 PM
