White Plains Academy was put on lockdown on Tuesday as Algood Police responded to an armed intruder at a residence on Patton Street. According to reports, Johnny Joe Threet had made bond on a domestic charge earlier in the day and was under an Order Of Protection when he arrived at the home on a stolen 4-wheeler. He was also in possession of a long rifle with a scope. During the standoff, the school was locked down and no students or faculty were involved. Algood PD requested assistance from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office. Threet fired one round from the rifle during the incident. He was observed with the weapon pointed under his chin on several occasions and repeatedly requested Police to shoot him. During a conversation shouted across several yards, Threet agreed to throw the rifle out the doorway. He exited the home and surrendered. He was transported to the Putnam County Jail. Officers are seeking charges on Threet for Aggravated Burglary, Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of a Firearm under Bond Conditions, and violation of his order of protection.
